Dr.Sharma’s Concert in Ganakala Vidya Nilayam was a meditative journey for the jam packed audience at Triveni Society Goregaon on 23rd March 2014.

With a wonderful Lalgudi’s varnam of Nalinakanthi the concert began with a brisk tempo.  Following the Varnam, Thulasivanam composition of ‘Pranthosmi Devam Vinayakam ‘ in Nattai  paved the path for the richness to the concert which was followed by another master piece by Muthuswami Dikshithar ‘Sadachale swaram’ in Ragam Boopalam together with brief Kalpana Swarams.  Bhogindrasayinam of maharaja Swathithirunal in Ragam ‘Kundalavarali’ was the next item in the  concert which was delivered with the excellent tempo created a jubiliant mood.  He moved on next to Papanasam Sivan’s ‘Chitham Irangadadhenaiya’  in   Ragam Sahana. Various ‘pidis’ of Shana was exhibited with nice rendition.  Next sub-man item in the concert began with a  graceful Alapana of  vivadi raga & 70th Melam  ‘Nasikabhushani’  followed by ‘Maaravairi ramaNi’  kriti composed by Swami Thyagaraja. The kriti on devi dharmasamvardhani  was combined with excellent manodharma in raga, swara and niraval. This was followed by a Mohana Raga composition in Adi tala by “Garbhapuri vasar“

On special request Dr.Sharma chose to present  Ragam  Tanam Pallavi in Thodi Ragam set by great vidwan TRS set to Kanda Jati Tripudai [ ¼ idam thalli].  The technical aspects applied included thrikala, chaturasra tisram and tisram followed by vilomam  made the RTP became more adorable.    Shri  SVR on Violin and Sridhar on the Mridangam  were a perfect foil and contributed to the  concert to make it further enjoyable evening with their Manodharmam and Thani. Beautiful Sindhubhairavi piece ‘ Karunai Deivame Karpagame’ by Sri. Madurai T.Srinivasan followed the  RTP.

Dr Sharma received thunderous applause for the soulful  Bhajan in Kalyanavasantham and the famous Yamuna kalyani piece  Krishna nee Begane Baaro.  This was quickly followed by Khmas Tillana and the concert concluded with Mangalam.

The entire concert was filled with  great bhavam and saukhyam. There were many moments of good music which was well received by the audience.
